Archiving Tools

NSIS
QUOTE
NSIS (Nullsoft Scriptable Install System) is a professional open source system to create Windows installers. It is designed to be as small and flexible as possible and is therefore very suitable for internet distribution.

Being a user's first experience with your product, a stable and reliable installer is an important component of succesful software. With NSIS you can create such installers that are capable of doing everything that is needed to setup your software.

NSIS is script-based and allows you to create the logic to handle even the most complex installation tasks. Many plug-ins and scripts are already available: you can create web installers, communicate with Windows and other software components, install or update shared components and more.

Your wrong, the only thing is that they change it to a newer version and they release a anti-spyware for free, and the AVG-Internet Security Suite is not for free. Click HERE if you want to know about the latest updates for AVG-Free.

I would like to add a better alternative to AVG... This is the AVS (Anti-Virus Shield)... For better info vist their site: www.activevirusshield.com

What is Active Virus Shield?

Active Virus Shield is free anti-virus for your PC that combines traditional antivirus programs, stopping them before they can infect your computer.

Active Virus Shield is brought to you as a free service of AOL and is based on Kaspersky Lab’s award winning Personal Anti-Virus:

* Ranked #2 by Consumer Reports (Sep. ’05)
* Rated “Excellent” by TopTenReviews.com (2006)
* “Offers updates with more frequency… compared with… other security vendors” – Information Week
* “No anti-virus vendor launches a fix faster” – Red Herring

Active Virus Shield seamlessly integrates with the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems and is compatible with other PC protection programs (firewalls, anti-spyware, etc.). Like other anti-virus programs, using Active Virus Shield may require that you uninstall other anti-virus programs to avoid product incompatibilities.

Free for everyone

This anti virus uses the same detection engine as kaspersky. The differrence is that it doesnt have the advanced features of kaspersky but basic anti virus engine is the same. This is being distributed by AOL, initially for AOL users only

Personally, this is enough for me, I have no need of the advanced features of kaspersky. It gets the job done same and detection rate is one of the best. And best of all, its free...

Nice AV, with anti-spyware component, but it seems they get the knowledge of creating this AV in Anti-Vir... btw, that's my review about this AV..

I prefer Ook? Video Ook! over VideoDownloader since I had trouble with the latter & its an extension that tries to sell a converter package to handle the FLV file without posting alternate methods of viewing/converting it.

For those with USB Flash Drives these apps are great
http://portableapps.com/

Currently Gimp portable, Open Office Portable, VLC Portable, Firfox2 portable, Sudoku Portable, and 7zip protable are housed in my Flashdrive.

kung gusto nyo ng free anti virus, try nyo rin yun avast... madalas yun update nya... you just have to register [free] in their website for a 1 year license...

pag nagexpire register lang ulit kayo [free]...

so far so good naman sya sa pc ko...

There is really no memory booster of any kind, Win XP is doing acceptable performance managing PC's memory. Memory booster's may only lead your system to frequent crashes and denying other apps (multi-tasking).

Adobe Photoshop Editor CS3 - To edit my sigs and other personal avatars. (Is this a freeware? or maybe I torrent it 'cause its free.)

Flash Image Viewer - Make your picture full of pixels.

Ulead GIF Animator - My favorite tool for GIF and also animates your AVI files as well.

Easy GIF Animator - second alternate GIF animator. (If Ulead doesn't work on a picture I'm loading in.)

My favorite freeware:
-Security freeware:
--avast! Antivirus 4.7
--Spybot Search and Destroy 1.5
--Ad-Aware 2007
--Advanced Windows Care V2 Personal
--COMODO Firewall Plus
--SpywareBlaster 3.5

--Advanced Windows Care V2 Personal
--AusLogics Disk Defragmenter
--AusLogics Registry Defragmenter

-Internet related freeware:
--Mozilla Firefox (Web browser)
--Mozilla Thunderbird (E-Mail client)
--Opera (Web browser)
--Avant Browser (IE based web browser that is WAAAAAAY better than IE)
--BitComet* (Torrent client and download manager in one. Offers torrent previews.)
--Limewire (Peer-to-Peer Client)
--Flashget* (Download Manager and Torrent Client in one. Great interface and easy to use.)
--Yahoo! Messenger (IM Client)
--Chikka (IM Client with easy SMS/mobile phone texting feature)
--mIRC (IRC Client)

*The order of functions in their description tells their main purpose.

-Media players:
--WinAMP 5.xx
--VideoLan VLC Player
--GOM Player
--Combined Community Codec Pack (CCCP. Includes Media Player Classic and Zoom Player, so I had to mention it)
--FLV Player

-Codecs:
--Combined Community Codec Pack
--DivX (The player is bleh. Get it for the codec)

-"Office" freeware:

Add ko lang ang GhostWall, isa siyang freeware firewall, napakaliit ang memory consumption [852 K according to Task Manager], at basta alam mo kung anong mga port/IP ang iba-block or ipapa-allow, VERY effective siya.

As for torrents, I recommend either Azureus (if your PC has good specs) or µTorrent (if your PC has low specs or if you're more PC resource-conscious than some people). Azureus provides better control over download speeds, while µTorrent has a very small memory consumption, excellent in a Windows environment.

Favorite download managers would be Free Download Manager and DownloadThemAll!. FDM is a free open source download manager, while DTA is a Firefox plugin (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
