Is it ok to post a link? Eto magandang site for learning music theory, but it's on piano, though.
http://www.musictheory.net/ I think the TS already realizes and knows this, but there's only so much you can learning by reading tips and practicing by yourself. A real-life teacher would definitely be WAAY better and could further your skills in playing. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Of course, I have no position or intention to shoot down this idea, which I think is great for experts (tips) and beginners (basics) alike. Those in between, however, have it more complicated than the extremes. |

Advice to all.. Quotes From The Greats:
“Over all, I think the main thing a musician would like to do is give a picture to the listener of the many wonderful things that he knows of and senses in the universe. . . That’s what I would like to do. I think that’s one of the greatest things you can do in life and we all try to do it in some way. The musician’s is through his music.” - John Coltraine “Don’t play what’s there, play what’s not there.” - Miles Davis “I say, play your own way. Don’t play what the public want — you play what you want and let the public pick up on what you doing — even if it does take them fifteen, twenty years.” - Thelonious Monk “There are four qualities essential to a great jazzman. They are taste, courage, individuality, and irreverence. These are the qualities I want to retain in my music.” - Stan Getz “Never play anything the same way twice.” - Louis Armstrong “There is a Japanese visual art in which the artist is forced to be spontaneous. He must paint on a thin stretched parchment with a special brush and black water paint in such a way that an unnatural or interrupted stroke will destroy the line or break through the parchment. Erasures or changes are impossible. These artists must practice a particular discipline, that of allowing the idea to express itself in communication with their hands in such a direct way that deliberation cannot interfere. The resulting pictures lack the complex composition and textures of ordinary painting, but it is said that those who see well find something captured that escapes explanation. This conviction that direct deed is the most meaningful reflections, I believe, has prompted the evolution of the extremely severe and unique disciplines of the jazz or improvising musician. - Bill Evans |

sobrang haba ng explanation. or may nabasa kang mga chords na tulad nito... Dm7b5,G7(#9/#5),Cm6 Bb13, Gm7(add11), Ab13(b9) hala ka.. nakakaduling diba.. lalo na kung baguhan ka lang sa mga chords na to.. Anyway dahil tamad ako magpractise.. may isang paraan para mamemorize ang lahat ng chords.. ====================================================================== Bago ang lahat kaunting Theory Muna..... How chords are made? Ang isang basic chord ay may 3 notes na galing sa "Major Scale" na tinutugtog ng sabay sabay at tinatawag itong "Triads". Example 1: C Major Cmajor Scale = C D E F G A B C Major Chord = 1 3 5 so the notes of a C Major chord are: C E G, the 1 3 5 of C major scale Example 2: G Major 1 3 5 G A B C D E F# G <-- G Major Scale G Major Chord = G B D ------------------------------------ Adding the Major 7 to do this simply add the 7th note of the Major Scale to your triad Example 3: CM7 1 3 5 7 C D E F G A B C CM7 = C E G B Example 4: AM7 A B C# D E F# G# A <-- A major scale AM7 = A C# E G# note: Relax ka lang malapit na tayo sa shortcut (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) sige lang read more ------------------------------------- Converting Your Major Chord To Minor CM7 to Cm7: Chord Formulas: Major 7 = 1 3 5 7, minor 7 = 1 b3 5 b7 if CM7 = C E G Bb ; Cm7 is C Eb G Bb kuha ma na naman siguro (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ------------------------------------- More Chord Formulas: Dominant Chords: dom7 = 1 3 5 b7 C7 = C E G Bb ------------------------------------- Adding Extension: remember this: 2nd is also 9th, 4th is also 11th, 6th is also 13th Major7 + Extensions: M9 = 1 3 5 7 9, CM9 = C E G B D M#11 = 1 3 5 7 #11, CM#11 = C E G B F# M13 = 1 3 5 7 13, CM13 = C E G B A note: don't play M11 it's very dissonant Dominant7 + Ext: dom9 = 1 3 5 b7, C9 = C E G Bb D dom11 = 1 3 5 b7, C11 = C E G Bb F dom13 = 1 3 5 b7, C13 = C E G Bb A Add Notes: <- using ext. without the 7th note add9 = 1 3 5 9 add11 = 1 3 5 11 add13 = 1 3 5 13 Sus4 and Sus2: use 4th or 2nd instead of 3rd sus4 = 1 4 5 sus2 = 1 2 5 Dim and m7b5: half-dim or m7b5 = 1 b3 b5 b7, Cm7b5 = C Eb Gb Bb dim = 1 b3 b5 bb7(6) , Cdim = C Eb Gb A ============================================================== Ito na... Mapapansin nyo na kung habang tumutugtog ka iisipin mo lahat ng Major Scale kada gagawa ka ng chord.. nakakabaliw yun diba? So let's use this (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) By using this shapes, you'll be able to form hundreds of chords (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ok diba? game... (IMG:http://www.leachim.net/chordsgalore.gif) So 12 steps lang... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) 1. Play the the notes inside the RED CIRCLE this are the 1(Root) 3 5 that forms a BASIC MAJOR CHORD/Triad 2. Remember that this are movable chords.. as long as you know your root you'll figure it out. 3. You may try to remove duplicated notes such as root, 5th, so that you can reach the extensions 4. Add the 7th. You'll notice that it is possible to create more than 1 form of Major7, minor7 and dom7 chords. 5. Master the first form, the E form before moving to the next form. 6. After you memorize all the location of the 7th inside the focus area in the first form, Try to add another extension. This time try to add the 9(2) and play it 7. After you memorize the location of the 9th, Try minor keys by flatting the 3rd and 7th. Also 9th is the next note after the root so it's not that hard to add (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) 8. Now try to form a min7b5, dim, augmented chords. m7b5 = 1 b3 b5 b7 dim = 1 b3 b5 bb7 or 1 b3 b5 6 aud = 1 3 #5 9. Now memorize the location of 11(4), 13(6) and try to play it. You may remove the 5th note. 10. Move to the next Form and be sure to master it. Don't forget to stay only inside the focus area. 11. Try to combine the forms. 12. Find a Jazz Song, Bossa Nova and play the chords note: medyo di pa ok pagkakaexplain ko.. medyo pagod kasi ako pero aayusin ko pa to. Pero sana may matutunan kayo (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Ito yung iba pang chords na pwede mong gamitin sa taas (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Major (M): 1-3-5 Madd9: 1-3-5-9 M7: 1-3-5-7 M6:1-3-5-6 M7b5: 1-3-b5-7 M7+: 1-3-#5-7 M9: 1-3-5-7-9 M6/9: 1-3-5-6-9 M9b5: 1-3-b5-7-9 M6/9b5: 1-3-b5-6-9 M13: 1-3-5-7-9-13 M9+11: 1-3-5-7-9-+11 M6/9+11: 1-3-5-6-9-+11 Minor (m): 1-b3-5 madd9: 1-b3-5-9 m7: 1-b3-5-b7 m6:1-b3-5-6 m(M7): 1-b3-5-7 m7b5: 1-b3-b5-b7 m9: 1-b3-5-b7-9 m(M9): 1-b3-5-7-9 m6/9: 1-b3-5-6-9 m7/11: 1-b3-5-b7-11 m11: 1-b3-5-b7-9-11 m13: 1-b3-5-b7-9-13 Dominant 7th (7): 1-3-5-b7 7b5: 1-3-b5-b7 +7: 1-3-#5-b7 9th:1-3-5-b7-9 7b9: 1-3-5-b7-b9 7#9: 1-3-5-b7-#9 9b5: 1-3-b5-b7-9 +9: 1-3-#5-b7-9 7b9b5: 1-3-b5-b7-b9 7#9b5: 1-3-b5-b7-#9 +7b9: 1-3-#5-b7-b9 +7#9: 1-3-#5-b7-#9 7/6:1-3-5-b7-13 7/11: 1-3-5-b7-11 13th: 1-3-5-b7-9-13 11th: 1-3-5-b7-9-11 7/6/11: 1-3-5-b7-11-13 +11: 1-3-5-b7-9-+11 11b9: 1-3-5-b7-b9-11 13b9: 1-3-5-b7-b9-13 13#9: 1-3-5-b7-#9-13 13b5: 1-3-b5-b7-9-13 13/11: 1-3-5-b7-9-11-13 13+11: 1-3-5-b7-9-+11-13 13/11b9: 1-3-5-b7-b9-11-13 Suspended 2nd (sus2): 1-2-5 Suspended 4th (sus4): 1-4-5 7sus4: 1-4-5-b7 9sus4: 1-4-5-b7-9 13sus4:1-4-5-b7-9-13 Augmented (+): 1-3-#5 Diminished (o): 1-b3-b5 o7: 1-b3-b5-b77 o7susb13: 1-b3-bb7-b13 |

So basically a C5,G5,A5, etc, etc ay fifth harmony.... or 1-5
Ginagamit yan madalas sa rock... as a substitute for a full chord it means it can be a minor chord or a major chord... depende sa chord progression mo... Tinatawag din yan ng iba na Power Chords... well a 1-5 chord is not actually a chord but a substitute for a full chord... chord must always have a triad of 1-3-5 harmony to be called a chord... without the 3rd or the 7th you cannot identify a chord wether it is a minor, major or a dominant chord... ang laking tulong ng chord theory na iyon sa 1st page.
BTW, I'm using zoom g2. Pag may time ako bigay ako link nung isang song nay may delay settings. More power kuya Michael. |

Thanx Ghost...
Di ko kasi masasabi ang tamang settings e... usually depende sa tempo at sa effects na din... well the easiest way is actually to tap ur foot.. well ang usually settings ko kasi ay 3/4 of a second... or 3/4 of a beat with 20%-30% Feedback....

For guitar players... don't go there.. it's incomplete (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
They will just teach you patterns that won't go anywhere in the end... Actually this is better (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) http://www.dolmetsch.com/theoryintro.htm Tsaka wag nakayo lumayo pa... I can teach you enough things.. para magadvance kayo sa guitar This post has been edited by blueonion: Nov 25 2007, 04:23 PM |

@Vanilla
Gamitin mo yung Chord Lesson ko sa taas (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Then practise this chords... 1. Maj7, min7 2. Maj9, min9 3. suspended 2, suspended 4, dominant 7 (ex. G7,B7,A7,D7) 4. min7b5, dim, dominant 7b9 5. Aug, dominant 7#5 6. Maj6, min6, M7#11, 6/9 7. dominant7b5, dominant7b9, dominant 7#9 <--- altered dominant chords (ex. B7alt) 8. Slash Chords (Example: CM7/E, D/B, E7/G, etc etc) Yan pag nakuha mo na yung idea paano inconstruct yang mga chords na yan.. go to go ka na sa halos lahat ng kanta... Kuhain mo yung logic ng pagconstruct... at yung movement ng notes from one chord to another. That way matatandaan mo yung voicing nung lahat ng chords. Joe Satriani, Van Halen, Zakk Wyled, Paul Gilbert (Mr.Big at di yung Racer X pa sya) , Jimi Hendrex Skidrow, etc etc |

Do you know how I feel every time I hear her voice or see her? Group: Members Posts: 1,385 Joined: 3-September 06 From: Within your mind Member No.: 8,374 |
@All who sing in a choir well...
I need help! Finals na kasi ng contest eh, and I need to know how you guys sing the right notes throughout songs. Me and my classmates were already memorizing the song, and doing everything we could, but I don't quite get all the notes yet... I've been practicing for a while now, and still don't get the notes. Third week na ata to. I think I'm a bit tone-deaf. How do I remedy this? I wasn't like this before Eliminations... I also want to know how you guys soften your voices, since masyadong malakas yung akin. As in, my voice overpowers that of the Altos and Sopranos in parts where I should lower my voice a bit more... All help will be appreciated, as long as it's really helpful and not something to flame me or what... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Please don't tell me to get voice lessons. I don't have anymore time for them since the finals of the contest is tomorrow! ...and I have to review pa, may periodicals rin kami bukas... From: Sintunadong Bass. Ako yun. You know, just the thought of making a lot of mistakes just makes me want to stick to playing the guitar forever and never learn how to play other instruments, or learn how to sing.
